The Sanctuary at Bay of Islands

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. It was my husbands birthday while we were there so I had been in touch with Glinnes beforehand to get some restaurant recommendations. She booked restaurants for us and a taxi and produced a beautiful small cake on birthday morning. Glinnes and Dave are very welcoming and the house is so comfortable. Our bedroom was lovely. I cant recommend Sanctuary at Bay of Islands enough.

We stayed three nights and loved our time at this little slice of Heaven. It is outside of Paihia but not far which is perfect if you dont want to be in the thick of the tourist town. The views are spectacular. Glennis and partner Dave are really warm and generous hosts. They offered great service and advice to places to visit, all of which were spot on. Breakfast was delightful with an array of fresh fruits and muesli. A tip would be to book restaurants in advance to avoid missing out. There were some fab places such as Tera Tera in Paihia and Sage in Russell ( a must visit) that were a no go due to peak season. It really was a private sanctuary, one we would highly recommend.
